Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

PlanetBYear is a talent-discovery platform for musicians who play by ear. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including what happens when you connect a third-party account like YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, or Meta.

01Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your basic Google profile (name, email, avatar). Authentication is handled by our provider, Supabase.

Content you provide. Clips you submit, your artist profile details, and anything you post or send us.

Connected-platform data. If you connect a third-party account, we request read-only access to your own media on that platform (for example, your YouTube channel uploads or your Vimeo videos) so you can import them to your profile as embeds. We read video metadata — titles, thumbnails, IDs, and public embed information — not your private messages, contacts, or the media of other users.

Payment information. Tips and payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.

Technical data. Basic logs and cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate and secure the service.

02How we use your information

To operate PlanetBYear: create your profile, display and embed clips, run discovery and narration features, process tips, and keep the service secure.

To import media you choose to bring over from a connected platform, and to show it on your profile using that platform's official player.

To communicate with you about your account and respond to support requests.

03Connected platforms, including YouTube

When you connect an account, that platform's own terms and privacy policy also apply to your use of it. In particular, PlanetBYear's use of information received from YouTube APIs complies with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. By connecting a YouTube account you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and your data is handled in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

What we access: read-only access to your own channel and its videos, to list and import them. We do not post, edit, or delete anything on your connected accounts through this feature.

Revoking access:you can disconnect a platform from your PlanetBYear settings at any time, which deletes the stored access tokens. You can also revoke PlanetBYear's access directly through the platform — for Google/YouTube, via Google's security settings.

04How we store and protect your data

Access and refresh tokens from connected platforms are stored encrypted on our servers, are accessible only to your account, and are never exposed to the browser or to other users. Our data is hosted with Supabase (database) and Vercel (application hosting).

We embed video through each platform's official player or oEmbed — PlanetBYear does not download or re-host your video files.

05Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make PlanetBYear work — Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, and the AI narration providers that process a clip's transcript — and with the platforms you choose to connect. Each acts under its own privacy terms.

06Your rights and choices

You can disconnect any linked platform, edit your profile, or request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Deleting your account removes your profile, submitted content, and stored connection tokens, subject to any data we must retain for legal or security reasons.

07Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Connection tokens are kept until you disconnect the platform or delete your account, after which they are removed.

08Children

PlanetBYear is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
